The park overlooks Orchard Road and is set in the heart of the Civic and Cultural District of Singapore, In the past, it was used for a myriad of purposes - a theatre, an aquarium, Raffles' residence and even for military use, but it now offers a variety of recreational activities as well as historical, educational, entertainment and cultural experiences, and is also used as a place for social events. It also serves as a green lung for Singapore's downtown city area, a green oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Fort Canning is simply a hub of cultural and artistic activity.
Enjoy a Relaxing Stay at a Heritage Hotel - Hotel Fort Canning
Hotel Fort Canning is a luxurious and award-winning conservation hotel tucked within 18 hectares of lush greenery in Fort Canning Park, Singapore's first Botanic Gardens, where many artefacts from Singapore's colourful history have survived on the hill and are visible to this day. The nearest MRT is the Fort Canning MRT station but despite how close it may look on the map, it is advisable to get a taxi up since it would be quite tiring to lug your luggage up the hill.
All 86 suites and guest rooms are designed to provide stunning views of the lush foliage of Fort Canning Park, or of Singapore’s vibrant city skyline. Facilities in Hotels always excite me and with Fort Canning Hotel, their range of facilities didn't leave me disappointed. While they had a 24-hour front desk, currency services, dry cleaning services and many other facilities which were really awesome, honourable mentions includes their three (yes, you saw this right) swimming pools, TechnoGym, Chinois Spa and the fact that they maintain their status as a smoke-free property.
I know how important a smoke-free property can be to families with children or the elderly or even regular people like you and me. Hotel Fort Canning's consideration in deciding to apply this rule is greatly appreciated. For smokers, do not despair because the hotel has designated places you can go to have a smoke or if you have a hotel room with a balcony, you can do this in the privacy of your balcony.
Enjoy a relaxing and carefree day by the Hotel’s three swimming pools – a free-form pool, a lap pool and a children’s pool – each of which are filled with natural pure water that is chlorine - and chemical-free. As an outfit dedicated to conserving the environment, the Hotel has invested in the most advanced ionisation technology by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to treat and sanitise the water in order to eliminate allergies, odours and irritation. We love an eco-friendly corporation!
People with sensitive skin can be rest assured when entering the beautiful blue waters and parents can let their children swim free with no worries.
Guests looking to work up a much-needed sweat can visit the Hotel’s state-of-the-art TechnoGym, one of the largest in a Singapore hotel. The gym comes complete with extensive equipment in a sprawling venue offering panoramic views of the park, while personal trainers are on hand to make workouts a rewarding experience. Opt for the many jogging trails found just around the Hotel within Fort Canning Park to take in the sights and sounds of Singapore’s flora and fauna.
The luxurious Chinois Spa offers comprehensive treatments and massages that soothe and pamper. Based on the belief in the power of nature, Chinois Spa uses products from Siam Botanicals, a skincare brand crafted with only the finest of natural ingredients and free from synthetic colours, fragrances, preservatives, GMO ingredients, mineral oil, petrochemicals and detergents.
This is the perfect escape to erase the stress of your everyday life and pamper yourself with some much needed tender love and care.
Hotel Fort Canning also provides 2 dining establishments where you can get some much needed sustenance.
Country winner of the 2017 World Luxury Restaurant Awards, The Salon offers an enticing selection of Western, Asian-inspired and Singaporean favourites amidst a sophisticated ambience.

Korean Fast Food - JinJja Chicken
Jinjja Chicken is a fast food restaurant operating with the vision of taking the idea of fast casual dining beyond just fried chicken and fries. They serve up familiar, uniquely Korean meal fixes whipped up with daily staples such as noodles and rice – comparable to what burgers and sandwiches are to the West and everything is halal! While it's a known fact that fast food is usually bad for you, Jinjja Chicken aims to change that notion by avoiding excessive use of preservatives, additives and overly processed ingredients whenever possible.
The interior of Jinjja Chicken is fun, hip and loud but not over bearing. The vibrant reds and yellows of the place look super inviting and K-pop music and music videos are played throughout the place, sure to excite the K-pop fans. I imagine this to be the kind of place that youngsters would love to hang out with their friends and surprise and please the average adult with the easy-going and relaxed vibe.
Jinjja Chicken serves a variety of food items, beverages and deserts; all of which look worthy of a Korean restaurant. They have stews, burgers, rice dishes, noodle dishes, porridge, toast and of course, Korean fried chicken. For the health conscious, they have salads too!
Their crispy and juicy fried chicken comes in 3 flavours - Soy Garlic, their most popular option, YangNyeom, a Korean thick spicy sauce and a Monster Sauce for the spice-meisters.
The wide variety really leaves one spoilt for choice. There simply is something for everyone. Whether you're craving savoury fried food or warm and comforting soup dishes, Jinjja Chicken has it all!
Do take note that their breakfast menu only runs from 4am - 10am and is only available at their Changi Airport T2 outlet.

Traditional Desserts - Mei Heong Yuen
Those with a sweet tooth will rejoice at the mention of this dessert establishment. The brainchild of Connie and Clara Lee, daughters of Mei Heong Yuen’s founder, Mei Heong Yuen specializes in different varieties of pastes and steamed egg pudding. They also have cold desserts such as their thirst quenching mango with pomelo and sago to combat Singapore's scorching hot weather. Share a dessert with your travel mates and fall in love with Singapore's local flavours.
Situated in a shophouse, seats can get rather cramped but not to the extent that you feel uncomfortable about accidentally rubbing against a neighbour. The atmosphere is busy but somehow, you really feel at home. It's like I was transported to the holiday season and family members were hustling and bustling, trying to get everything prepared in time for dinner. Mei Heong Yuen's interior and exterior is simple. The lack of fancy decor really ties in with what Mei Heong Yuen provides - substance. They don't try to blind you with pretty decorations but wow you with the simplicity and intricacy of their traditional desserts.
Not forgetting health conscious people and the elderly, Mei Heong Yuen serves varieties of healthy paste. Flavours include almond, peanut, walnut and sesame. While these pastes may look rather plain and unimpressive, the nutty flavours are a crowd favourite for a reason. The soupy consistency paired with the richness of the nut flavours is a hearty combination that warms the soul. It feels so sinful but it isn't! It's actually quite mild and can be considered healthy compared to the other desserts available.
They also have 21 flavours of their snow ice dessert, a specialty that many visit them for. Imagine sheets of flavoured thin ice piled on top each other to form a majestic tower. You may think it sounds like the usual Ice Kachang that is also available in Singapore but you’ll be surprised to realise that the flavouring of your choice has already been mixed into the ice sheets itself which is what makes it so special. Perfect for sharing, it's sure to cool you down.
Their extensive menu also includes cakes and dumplings that are worth exploring. You'll definitely be spoilt for choice. Here's a link to their menu here - http://www.meiheongyuendessert.com.sg/index.php/our-menu

A Portmanteau of Art & Tea - Arteastiq
Arteastiq is a boutique tea house oasis that offers you a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. The name itself is a portmanteau of art and tea with the purpose of teasing your senses through working your creative juices and tantalising your taste buds.
Arteastiq also offers you an opportunity to get in tuned with your creative side by providing you with the therapeutic experience of canvas expression. They call it Art Jam. The whole concept of social interaction through the expression of painting and gathering whilst overlooking the busy life pass you by is simply an experience not to be missed. Time slows down and you start to appreciate the mundanity of life. This is an activity perfect for all ages, especially couples and families with children. You will be provided with a canvas, limitless colours and a free beverage to get you started. Let your creative juices flow!
The painting sessions are 11am - 2pm, 2:30pm - 5:30pm & 6pm - 9pm and are priced at $48SGD per session. They are only available at their Mandarin Gallery and Plaza Singapura outlets.
The premium tea lounge has an elegant chi-chi ambience with a comprehensive medley of artisanal tea selections for all occasions. Elegantly decorated, Arteastiq aims to make you feel at home and remind people to admire and appreciate the beauty of the simple things. Sometimes, it's okay to take it slow and sip some tea while chatting with your loved ones.
At the other end lies the Art Jam Studio. The colours are beautifully displayed and free for use of the Art Jammers and the smiles on their faces really draw you in and made you wish you could paint too.
The boutique boasts over 70 in-house tea selections; all of them a medley of different flavours and invoking different emotions. The tea was fragrant and served in elegant glass teapots which really appealed to my aesthetics. They plated their food and beverages beautifully and was definitely worth a snap to display on Instagram
While Arteastiq is known more for its Western style dishes and brunch items such as its Crab Cake Breakfast and Chicken & Waffle food wise, their recently revamped menu includes more Asian touches to satisfy a wider range of tastes. The food all looked so good, it was extremely tempting to try them all. They also have a selection of desserts that was really hard to pass up, and premium gelatos that had really interesting flavours such as lavender, durian, yuzu and more.

Traditional Chinese Pastries - Yikowei
Established in 1983, Yi Kou Wei is known for their freshly hand-made Springroll “Popiah” and pastries in their early years. They took pride in devoting themselves to promoting Home-made Traditional Chinese pastries for more than 25 years, and over the years, built up their reputation in selling our unique kueh and pastries, earning many awards and gaining recognition as a result. Yikowei strives to promote and educate consumers on old-style Singaporean snacks and pass these on to the next generation to enjoy and love.
While there are no seatings available, the booth is clean, well-maintained and packed full with fragrant Chinese pastries that looked amazing. Although it is surrounded by other booths that sell a variety of things, it isn't difficult to spot them and didn't take long to find. Available pastries are displayed neatly and clearly for your access.
Yikowei sells many Traditional Chinese pastries such as Pumpkin Kueh, Muah Chee and many more but the highlight would have to be their bestselling Pineapple Tarts. The Pineapple Tarts are sweet, tart, buttery, fragrant and melts in your mouth. The only negative thing would be that you'd find it difficult to stop after the first one. Pineapple Tarts are sold in tubs, perfect to bring home as a souvenir or for yourself to munch on when you need a snack.

Similar textures and flavours were shelved together while special seasonal products were labelled very well.

Barbecued Meat - Fragrance
This brand was named in Chinese, meaning "Fragrance" after the aroma of their barbequed meats. Madam Ong set up her first bak kwa stall in 1969. Through hard work, she developed winning formula, and the heavenly scent of her barbecued meat attracted Singaporeans from all walks of life to share in this tradition. Madam Ong's descendants, the Tan family, has continued championing the indomitable spirit of a post-independent Singapore with their irresistible barbecued selections as well as traditional Singaporean snacks.
Upon entering, the first thing that hit me was the fragrance of the place. Their brand is really aptly named. Brightly lit, the barbecued meat (Bak Kwa) was glistening deliciously under the lights. Products were neatly placed around the store and samples can be asked for. Upon request, they can prepare vacuum packed packages of your products so that you can bring it home with all its freshness preserved.
They offer a selection of Singapore's finest classics, ranging from their signature Bak Kwa, flaky crisp flosses, mouthwatering Chinese sausages and Tau Sar Piah pastries, the classic Singaporean pastry.
Their Bak Kwas comes in a variety of variations - Turkey, US Berkshire Pork, Crocodile meat, Chilli and some are even shaped in coins or fortune pigs to suit the occasion. A perfect mix of savoury and sweet, it's the ultimate Singaporean snack. Some even pair it with rice or bread! They also have red yeast Bak Kwas that contain lower cholesterol compared to their original ones.
There are also BB and mini Bak Kwas that come in individually vacuum packed packets that kids (and even adults) can bring out to have for a snack!

The World's Strongest - Aroma Truffle
For all you truffle lovers comes this bad boy. Marketing themselves as "The World's Strongest Truffle" and claiming that nothing comes close, you have to give them a try just for the confidence they exude to see if they really live up to their words. They seal in the Black Truffle’s rich earthy and aromatic flavors into their special house recipe, before glazing them onto their hand-cooked chips, resulting in the beautiful creation that is their truffle chips!
This is another booth that does not have seating available but that's to be expected since they are selling chips. Their different flavours are displayed clearly and they have samples on hand where you can try it before you decide to purchase.
As soon as the bag of goodness was opened, the strong fragrance of truffle wafted up my nose. Sometimes the aroma can be misleading and oftentimes disappointing as some truffle dishes or snacks seem to smell stronger than they taste. This, however, was a huge exception. Each piece was generously crowned with real, precious truffles and the explosive flavour of truffle really shone through, with a little bit of saltiness. The taste of the truffle was slightly garlicky, with a deep musky aroma that I couldn't get enough of. I immediately wanted to buy this and let my doubtful friends and family experience the amazing flavours. I expected this to be a hoax but honestly, it really exceeded my expectations.
For people who don't really like truffle or cannot stand it if it's too much, it's recommended that you try some samples before you purchase them because these are strong.
While the price point of the chips can be a little pricey compared to other chips in the market, it really is worth the try and if you really like it, it's a great souvenir to bring home to share with the family and friends. They have 3 flavours available - Original, Parmesan Cheese & Honey Mustard.

A friendly and air-conditioned oasis in a busy corner of town, chill and have some drinks with your friends or family and soak up the sights at Boat Quay.
That bright red signboard is sure to catch your attention. Dubbing themselves "Little London", it's no surprise that the ambience and decor inside resemble a little English bar, with a vintage touch. It's a comfortable and cozy place to just let yourself slow down and catch your breath or catch up with your friends over amazing drinks.
Little London offers interesting concoctions and mixes. An example would be their tea-infused mixes that subtly introduces your taste buds to that English aroma and flavour. Korean BBQ - I'm Kim
I'm Kim is a new and hip Korean BBQ buffet restaurant in town that strives to provide our guests the best ultimate dining experience by offering high quality food, top-notch customer service in a fun environment and best of all, at affordable prices.
The restaurant was comfortably decorated with long tables of marinated meat, seafood, veggies, cooked food and even soup! It was a mouth-watering sight. Despite it being a Korean BBQ (KBBQ) place, the place wasn't too smokey as they had hung some sort of filter that sucks in the smoke to make your dining experience more pleasant. K-pop music blasted through their speakers and some televisions were featuring K-pop MVs.
The entire ambience of the restaurant was fun, hip and enjoyable. A great place to have some drinks and chat over grilled meat.
They have more than 50 dishes on their eat-all-you-can menu, and their signature dishes are ‘volcano chicken’ and ‘irresistible chicken wings’. All of the marinated meats were really good especially paired with refreshing and light lettuce. Spice it up with adding some kimchi and garlic and it only elevated the flavours. The fun of KBBQ is that with the lettuce as a wrap, you can basically keep creating your own delicious tiny nuggets of goodness wrapped in lettuce leaves. Stuffing it all in my mouth was an unglamorous sight but honestly, it was so delicious that I didn't care. Wrap some enoki mushrooms around your meat and eat it together to experience a new dimension of flavours!

The Mind Cafe is a board game cafe – not just your regular cafe that offers fantastic coffee and tasty pastries, they are here to share the love of board games! With an exhaustive game library of 500 games, spend some quality time here with your travel mates and get competitive. I always felt that bonding through games was an easy and fun way of getting to know more about the people around you and here, you can have a meal or some drinks while sifting through the available games.
The cafe is cozy and there are shelves littered with hundreds and hundreds of board games. Seeing the many games decorating the shelves got me excited to look through and explore the different games to play. All of the board games are kept in conditions that are close to perfect! With tables and comfy chairs, it's easy to find yourself huddled around the board game and having so much fun that you forget the time. It felt great to put down our phones and indulge in some plain old board games. Don't underestimate these board games; some proved to be quite difficult!

Free flow snacks include Lay's Chips, popcorn, prawn crackers, mixed nuts and more! If you don't purchase the packages, the rates are $5SGD/hour and the drinks and snacks are to be purchased separately with different price tags.
They also provide a decent selection of finger good and main courses, such as Beef Lasagne, pasta, onion rings, french fries and more!

A place ladies would definitely love, the place was comfortable and inviting. Most of all, the place smelled really good! This must've been due to the concoctions that they used for their treatments.
The atmosphere was relaxing and the place was clean and well-maintained. Understandably, nails or lashes may take some time to complete, hence a comfortable environment was really important and they've managed to achieve that.
