Chalk Farm - Homegrown Cake Company by Bryan Koh, Author of Award Winning Cookbook
Chalk Farm is the brainchild of Bryan Koh, a self-published author of three cookbooks on different Asian cuisines, and was later joined by his sibling, Dawn Koh. One of Bryan's cookbook was even awarded third in Best Asian Food Book by Gourmand International in Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. He once spent 4 years travelling to and fro Myanmar just to finish 1 cookbook, which really showcases his strong passion and dedication to food. At Chalk Farm, he seeks to create artisanal and gastronomic delights in the form of cakes. After three long years of developing their menu, the siblings finally decided to open the doors to allow their customers to try their creations.
Chalk Farm has a minimalist design and the ever typical glass display, filled with beautiful cakes. The decor is simple, clean and sleek and it works so well because then, all the spotlight falls on the cakes. The cakes speak for themselves, each beautifully made and ornately decorated.
Chalk Farm has an extensive menu of cakes and cupcakes. Each and every of their creation have their unique charm and allure. They have the more common flavours such as Blackforest and Red Velvet to the decadent such as the Dark Chocolate Olive Oil Cake and finally the exotic, such as the Pulut Hitam Chiffon, Kueh Salat Cake and Carrot Whiskey Sultana.
As expected of a man who loves food, the cakes he creates are amazing. Sweet, but not overly so, the cakes are fluffy and melted in my mouth. Cakes can get surfeit really fast but with Chalk Farm, it's the right mix of light and creamy that just keeps you wanting more.
